About Us
The Riley Pendergrass Family Life Center, a ministry of Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church, has a proud history of faith, vision, and service to the community.
At the time it was built, the Family Life Center was the first facility of its kind in the area, created to meet not only the spiritual needs of the church but also the social, recreational, and educational needs of the community. The original facility even housed a swimming pool, reflecting the church’s forward-thinking vision of creating a place where people of all ages could gather, learn, grow, and enjoy life together.
Today, that same spirit continues. The Family Life Center provides a welcoming space where faith, fellowship, and community come together. We serve our church family and the greater Greenville community through worship and ministry activities, educational programs, community events, celebrations, recreation, and fellowship.
Our goal is to continue building on the vision that established this center: creating a place where individuals and families can connect, grow, build lasting relationships, and find a sense of belonging.
Honoring Deacon Riley Pendergrass
Named in honor of Deacon Riley Pendergrass, a devoted church leader and longtime Chairman of the Deacon Board, the Family Life Center reflects his legacy of faith, service, and commitment to others. Remembered as a beacon of light within the church and community, his dedication to Christ and his fellow man continues to inspire the Center’s mission today.
The Family Life Center carries that legacy forward by providing a welcoming space for ministry, fellowship, recreation, education, and community events for people of all ages.

Founded in 1879, Reedy River Missionary Baptist Church has faithfully served the Greenville community for more than 145 years. What began as a small congregation worshipping in a humble brush arbor has grown into a thriving ministry dedicated to sharing God's love through worship, service, and outreach. Named in honor of Deacon Riley Pendergrass, the Family Life Center continues this legacy by providing a welcoming space for ministry, fellowship, recreation, education, and community events for people of all ages.
